Genelde bu farkl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131n nedenini k\u00fclt\u00fcrel olarak a\u00e7\u0131klar\u0131z. Peki bunlar\u0131n as\u0131l sebebinin k\u00fclt\u00fcrel farklar de\u011fil de dilin kendisi olabilece\u011fini hi\u00e7 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fcn\u00fcz m\u00fc? \u0130\u015fte kar\u015f\u0131n\u0131zda Sapir-Whorf hipotezi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sapir-Whorf hipotezi ad\u0131n\u0131 dilbilimci olan Benjamin Lee Whorf ve Edward Sapir\u2019den alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Genel olarak hipotez, dilin d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnce yap\u0131m\u0131z\u0131 etkiledi\u011fini, asl\u0131nda dilin zihin \u015femam\u0131z\u0131 olu\u015fturdu\u011funu ve bunun da d\u00fcnyay\u0131 alg\u0131lay\u0131\u015f bi\u00e7imimize etki etti\u011fini savunuyor. \u00d6rnek vermek gerekirse, dilin alg\u0131 \u00fczerindeki etkisini ara\u015ft\u0131ran bir \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada gramer cinsiyetine sahip olan iki farkl\u0131 dilin objeleri tan\u0131mlamalar\u0131na bak\u0131ld\u0131. \u201cAnahtar\u201d Almancada mask\u00fclen, \u0130spanyolcada feminen olan bir kelime. Almanlar anahtar\u0131 tarif ederken sert, a\u011f\u0131r, di\u015fli s\u0131fatlar\u0131n\u0131, \u0130spanyollar ise k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck, sevimli, parlak ve karma\u015f\u0131k s\u0131fatlar\u0131n\u0131 tercih etmi\u015flerdir. Ayn\u0131 anahtar, dilin kullan\u0131m\u0131 de\u011fi\u015fti\u011finde farkl\u0131 s\u0131fatlarla anlamland\u0131r\u0131lmaya ba\u015fl\u0131yor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ba\u015fka bir \u00f6rnek \u00fczerinden gidecek olursak; T\u00fcrk\u00e7ede aile ba\u011flar\u0131n\u0131 ifade eden \u00e7ok say\u0131da kelime mevcut, neredeyse ailedeki her bireye ayr\u0131 bir hitap s\u00f6zc\u00fc\u011f\u00fc var; hala, yenge, amca, day\u0131, eni\u015fte, bald\u0131z vs. ancak \u0130ngilizlerde sadece uncle ve aunt kelimesi b\u00fct\u00fcn aile ba\u011flar\u0131n\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131klamak i\u00e7in yeterli g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcyor. Sadece bu \u00f6rnekteki kelimelere bakarak bile T\u00fcrklerde aile ba\u011flar\u0131n\u0131n \u0130ngilizlerden daha \u00f6nemli oldu\u011funu s\u00f6yleyebiliyoruz de\u011fil mi? \u0130\u015fte hipotezin dayand\u0131\u011f\u0131 temellerden biri de bu, dil yap\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131 ara\u015ft\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131zda o dili kullanan ki\u015filerin nelere \u00f6nem verdiklerini bile anlayabiliyoruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ayn\u0131 zamanda dilin zaman alg\u0131m\u0131za ve zaman\u0131 nas\u0131l tan\u0131mlad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131za dair etkisi de yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalarla desteklenmi\u015f durumda. T\u00fcrk\u00e7ede ge\u00e7mi\u015fte yap\u0131lan bir eylemi anlat\u0131rken fiili \u015fahitlik durumuna g\u00f6re (hikaye ya da rivayet) Rus\u00e7ada ise fiili cinsiyetine ve yap\u0131lan i\u015fin bitip bitmeme durumuna g\u00f6re fiil \u00e7ekimi yapmam\u0131z gerekiyor. Bunlara kar\u015f\u0131n Endonezya dilinde ge\u00e7mi\u015f zaman\u0131 anlatmak i\u00e7in herhangi bir fiil \u00e7ekimine ihtiya\u00e7 duyulmuyor. Bu \u00f6rnekler o \u00fclkelerin k\u00fclt\u00fcrlerini anlamam\u0131za yard\u0131mc\u0131 oluyor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zaman alg\u0131lar\u0131 sadece fiil \u00e7ekimleriyle de\u011fil, ge\u00e7mi\u015f ve gelece\u011fi nerede g\u00f6rd\u00fckleriyle de ili\u015fkilendiriliyor. Bununla ilgili yap\u0131lan bir \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada; alfabelerinin dizimi soldan sa\u011fa, sa\u011fdan sola ya da yukar\u0131dan a\u015fa\u011f\u0131ya do\u011fru olan \u00fc\u00e7 farkl\u0131 toplulu\u011fa \u00e7i\u00e7e\u011fin b\u00fcy\u00fcme evrelerini dizmeleri isteniyor. Topluluklar s\u0131ralamalar\u0131 alfabe dizilerine g\u00f6re yap\u0131yor. \u00d6rne\u011fin Arap\u00e7a harf kullananlar sa\u011fdan sola do\u011fru s\u0131ral\u0131yor \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc onlar i\u00e7in gelecek sol tarafta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalarda ki\u015filerin kulland\u0131klar\u0131 dilin zeka tipleriyle de ili\u015fkili oldu\u011fu anla\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015f. \u00d6rne\u011fin ki\u015fi kendini ifade ederken; \u201cNas\u0131l bu a\u00e7\u0131dan bakars\u0131n? Bu i\u015fin gelece\u011fini iyi g\u00f6rm\u00fcyorum?\u201d gibi g\u00f6rsel duyular\u0131na y\u00f6nelik c\u00fcmleler kuruyorsa bu ki\u015finin g\u00f6rsel zeka ve haf\u0131zas\u0131n\u0131n, \u201cBu i\u015fin sonunu iyi hissetmiyorum.\u201d gibi c\u00fcmleler kuruyorsa kinestetik zekas\u0131n\u0131n daha geli\u015fmi\u015f oldu\u011fu fark edilmi\u015f. Bu ara\u015ft\u0131rma di\u011ferlerinden farkl\u0131 olarak zeka ve dilin kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kl\u0131 etkisini savunuyor. Sonu\u00e7ta zeka tipiniz g\u00f6rsel oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in de g\u00f6rsel tan\u0131ml\u0131 c\u00fcmleler kullan\u0131yor olabilirsiniz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hipotezi ilk okudu\u011funuzda zihninizde \u201cK\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcn hi\u00e7 mi etkisi yok?\u201d sorusu beliriyor.&nbsp; Hatta kendinizi bu hipotezi ele\u015ftiren en temel sorular\u0131 da sorarken bulabiliyorsunuz. K\u00fclt\u00fcr m\u00fc dili etkiliyor yoksa dil mi k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc etkiliyor?&nbsp; Bu etkinin kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kl\u0131 oldu\u011fu kanaatinde olsam da hipotez, dilin etkisinin daha fazla oldu\u011funu savunuyor. Bu noktada hipotez ele\u015ftiriliyor \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc kesin bir \u015fekilde etkinin kayna\u011f\u0131n\u0131n dil oldu\u011fu kan\u0131tlanam\u0131yor. \u00d6rne\u011fin; Eskimolar\u0131n deveye kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k gelen herhangi bir s\u00f6zc\u00fckleri yokken Arap\u00e7ada devenin y\u00fcr\u00fcy\u00fc\u015f bi\u00e7imine bile farkl\u0131 bir kelime kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k geliyor. \u0130\u015fte burada dilin do\u011fdu\u011fu co\u011frafyan\u0131n etkisi g\u00f6z ard\u0131 edilmemeli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peki ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lar bu ele\u015ftirilere kar\u015f\u0131 dilin etkisini nas\u0131l savunmu\u015f?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bug\u00fcne kadar yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131, ara\u015ft\u0131rmalardaki etkinin k\u00fclt\u00fcr vb. etkilerden de\u011fil de dilden kaynakl\u0131 oldu\u011funu g\u00f6rebilmek i\u00e7in di\u011fer etkileri ortadan kald\u0131rd\u0131klar\u0131 bir ara\u015ft\u0131rma yapm\u0131\u015flar: Anadili \u0130ngilizce (yatay zaman alg\u0131s\u0131 olan dil) olan insanlara dikey zaman alg\u0131s\u0131 olan Mandarinceyi \u00f6\u011fretiyorlar.
